Sunday August 18th 2002 - BSFL fixture Bournemouth Raiders 0 Leicester Eagles 10In this eagerly awaited game between two unbeaten sides, it was the Eagles who came out on top in a defensive match. In the first half, neither team could get things going on offense with both defenses playing outstanding football. Sacks from Daniel Nehorai, Allen Gilbert, Matt Hemsley and defensive kingpin Nick Michael held things together for the Raiders, and Rich Manning, Alan OSullivan and Martin Gwilliam proving a handful for the Eagles. The scores remained locked at 0-0 at half-time. The Eagles broke through early in the second half on a Ryan Melbourne field-goal to go 3-0 up, and then Ryan Melbourne scored the crucial TD on the Eagles next drive to put the Eagles 10-0 in the lead. Despite, a couple of breakaway runs by HB Tim Smith, and 3 catches from Nehorai the Raiders could not effectively move the ball against the more well organised Eagles team.
