BOURNEMOUTH RAIDERS 21-13 LEICESTER EAGLES BLUE
The Bournemouth Raiders opened the tournament with a tight victory over the
Leicester Eagles Blue team. The Raiders took an early lead, when QB Matt
Heasman connected on a short pass to Mark Houston who raced in for the
score. The Eagles hit back, when QB John Pimperton completed an out
pattern to James Hossack who was wide open to tie the
scores. Just before half-time,
the Raiders re-took the lead, when Heasman hit Allen Gilbert on a pass
over the middle to put the Raiders 13-6 up at the
half. Early in the second half,
James Pimperton intercepted Heasman, and from the turnover the Eagles
tied the scores at 13-13 when John Pimperton passed to
Alan O'Sullivan. With 10 seconds to go in the games
Raiders took the winning lead when HB Houston passed
deep into the Eagles endzone where Daniel Nehorai jumped highest and
came down with the ball. Elliott added the 1PAT
on a pass from Heasman. On the final play of the game,
Marcus Gambrill was intercepted by Vincent Gurrea to
seal the win.
BOURNEMOUTH RAIDERS 20-8 LEICESTER EAGLES RED
The Raiders proved the team to beat, when they defeated the second
Leicester Eagles team 20-8. Eagles QB Chris
Wild completed to Andy Gambrill to open the scoring on
blown coverage. The Raiders came right back, and a pass from
QB Matt Heasman to Mark Houston brought the scores level, with Heasman
passing to Allen Gilbert for the PAT. Raiders extended their lead to 13-6
when Heasman hooked up with Houston again. At the start of the second
half, Andre Clarke tackled Houston
for a safety to close the score to 13-8. Chris Wild
was then intercepted by Daniel Nehorai, and Nehorai then caught
Heasman's 3rd TD to close the scoring at 20-8
BOURNEMOUTH RAIDERS 25-6 CHICHESTER SHARKS
The last game of the Chichester tournament was played in the fading light
and it appeared the Sharks chances of a victory had faded too, thanks
mainly to the blitzing of the Raiders Mark Houston and
his LB partner Matt Heasman.
It was their speed that caused the up to now effective passing game, to
stall and force a few changes. The Raiders took the lead on the first
play of the game when Daniel Nehorai intercepted Nick
Watson and ran it back 8 yards for the TD. On the
Raiders next drive, Raiders extended the lead to 13-0
when Nehorai scored his second TD of the game on an option pass from
Mark Houston. In the second half, Houston passed to Heasman on an option
gain to give the Raiders an unassailable 19-0 lead. For first time in the
day and trailing late in the game back up Quarterback Julian Simms handed
the ball off to Neil Henderson who ran for a 50 yard touchdown, spinning
away from the entire Bournemouth defense to score and take his personal
TD tally for the tournament up to 5. Towards the end
of the game, Houston completed his 3rd TD pass to Bene
Lewis who scored his first TD of an 11 year career to
round off the scoring. The Raiders with the win that also
clinched them their first ever title.
