Sunday March 4th 2001 - League fixture
BOURNEMOUTH RAIDERS 20-48 LONDON GATORS
In an exciting finale to the day's entertainment, the Gators triumphed 48-20 against the
improving Bournemouth Raiders. Just as the Eagles before them, the Raiders found it
difficult to adjust to the passing game of the Gators. Despite holding them on their first
drive, the Raiders went 8-0 down after 7 minutes when Barash threw his first TD of his six
in the game to Todd Johnstone, who caught a tip from CB Matt Smith. Bournemouth's QB Brad
Smith was managing to move the Raiders downfield, but just couldn't quite get them into
scoring terriorty. Barash threw two more scores before the break to Gary Crock and Todd
Johnstone again, as the Gators went 24-0 up. On a bizarre play Smith threw an interception
for Bournemouth, but then Barash (who was also playing DB) lateralled the ball to James
Savage of the Raiders who ran the fumble in from 22yds for a TD which got Bournemouth on
the scoresheet. 24-6 at half-time. Bournemouth and London played good football in the
second half as they traded scores. Barash throwing further scores to Johnstone and Drew
Simpson. Brad Smith threw two TD's to Danny Mobbs from 11 and 40 yards out to give the
scoreline some respectabiliy for Bournemouth.
