181. Ansbach Grizzlies 18-29 Birmingham Bulls, 1986. In this first competitive European encounter for a British side, the Bulls slumped to a 12-0 deficit early in the first half and a real beating looked the case against the German champions. However, they turned it around on the back of a stunning 100+yard game from RB Trevor Carthy and his 3 TDs, as the Bulls pulled clear in the second game. No match report.


 


182. Manchester Allstars 20-21 Manchester Spartans, 2nd August 1986. Allstars Nick Gough ran for 280 yards and 3 TDs, but still ended up on the losing side. TJ Johnson passed for 2 TDs as the Spartans opened up a 21-12 lead, and they held on after Gough’s TD and Nendel’s 2 PAT was converted. Match report.


 


183. London Blitz 28-12 London Olympians, 21st May 2006. A new look London Blitz side opened their 2006 season with 3 first half TD passes from newly installed QB Tom Britton in torrential rain at the Linford Christie Stadium as the Blitz won a famous victory over the London Olympians whom they had never beaten previously. They’d go onto face each in the classic Britball final in 2006. Match report

Birmingham Bulls 27-20 Leeds Cougars, 29th July 1989.  A cameo performance from Trevor Carthy and 8 catches for 89 yards with 2 TDs from Bob Shoop, gave the Bulls a 27-12 lead in the fourth quarter. John LaFleur pulled the score to 27-20, but the Bulls recovered the onside kick at the death to advance to the 1989 final. Match report 

185. Basildon 12-18 Crawley Raiders, 7th August 1994. Crawley led 12-0, but Basildon pulled the scores level in this Div.3 quarter-final. Gus Romain scored the decisive TD from 1 yard with 4 minutes left, and the Raiders D held off a determined Basildon attack. Match report.

Leicester Panthers 10-6 Milton Keynes Pioneers, 25th August 1996. A momentous day for the Panthers as they won their first national championship in 13 years of trying, in what turned out to be the last competitive game of the franchise’s history. Tiggy Bell ran for 85 yards on 24 carries, and Craig Broughton scored the TD that gave the Panthers the lead. Rex Harrison’s field goal a slender advantage to the Panthers in a brutal match that they hung onto win. Match report.


 

187. GB Spartans 50-44 Amsterdam Crusaders, FLE,19th June 1994

Victor Ebubedike ran for 215 yards on 30 carries and scored 2 TDs, as the Spartans outscored the Crusaders 43-8 between the 2nd and 3rd quarters! The Spartans cruised out into a 50-29 lead, and a couple of late TD’s closed the gap in a great display of offense by both sides. Match report

188. Herts Phantoms 48-34 Ipswich Cardinals, 28th August 1988. Terry Lee ran for a final record of 363 yards and 5TD’s, but the Cardinals were still only adrift by a score with just over 3 minutes to go. Parkin’s interception for the Phantoms sealed the Budweiser Division One title in this 80 point thriller. Match report


189. Birmingham Bulls 13-14 London Olympians, 30th April 1995 Eurobowl. Leroy Innis’s 17 yard TD catch on 4th and 16 gave the Olympians a 7-6 lead, but the Bulls took a 13-7 lead on Rigg’s bomb late in the first half. Dunkley gave the Olympians the win with the go-ahead score in the 3rd quarter, and despite Colin Nash’s late interception for the Bulls, the O’s hung on for the win. Match report

 


190. London Capitals 22-28 Brighton B-52s, 1988. The B-52s clinched a fantastic victory over the fancied London Capitals on the back of a strong performance from QB Chaz Jasicki. No match report
