BAFL Division Two

Glasgow Tigers 14-6 West Coast Trojans

This end of season match proved to be a cracker as the previously unbeaten West Coast Trojans travelled to play the Glasgow Tigers.

With both teams missing a number of starters there was the chance for a few back up players to show what they could do.

The Tigers Offence came to life midway through the 1st quarter when the O line cleared the way for Graeme Clee who had 17 and then 22 yard runs before bulldozing his way in from the 4yard line. The extra point kick was just wide left, and the Tigers were ahead 6-0.

The makeshift Tigers defence then prevented the Trojans from making any headway. Chris Linton and Scott Smith were outstanding for the Tigers as they gave Trojans QB Gary McNey very little time to try and find his recievers.

As the 2nd quarter neared  the final 2 minutes the Tigers offence burst into life with another fine  touchdown run of 51 yards from Graeme Clee. Tigers QB William McLauchlan passed to Ryan Hunter for the conversion and a deserved 14-0 lead.

The Trojans were desparately trying to get back into the game and 2 plays later a   McNey pass was intercepted by Robert Campbell, playing his last game in a Tigers shirt before heading off to the States.

A 27 yard run by Graeme Clee was the final play of the half, where he (Clee) had 16 carries for 152 yards and 2 tds.

The 14-0 scoreline did not change until inside the 2 minute warning of the 4th quarter. Trojans reciever Ross Murray caught a 10 yard pass from Gary McNey to reduce the deficit. McNey then tried a 2 point pass that was batted down by Tigers cornerback Andy Cairns.

With under a minute in the game, the Trojans tried an onside kick that was scooped up by the Tigers front line.

The Tigers end the season with 2 wins on the trot and a 4 -5-1 record. The Trojans with an excellent 9-1 division winning season must regroup for the playoffs.
