BYAFA League fixture

Bristol Aztecs Youth 36-18 Kent Brewers

The Exiles youth team for 14-19 year olds was also in action this weekend in their second league fixture against the Bristol Aztecs. Once again the Brewers put up an excellent show and gained the respect of yet another side in this Southern Conference clash. The bulk of the scoring took place in the first quarter with the Aztecs racing into a two score lead. Ed Collins blasted in from close range to open their account and repeated the exercise for the extra two points. On their next drive then seemed to be running away with the game as Nick Shotton-Gale wove into the endzone from fifteen yards
out. Louis Nixon booted the extra point points to give the home side a comfortable 15 - 0. This turned out to be a lead of a matter of seconds as Sean Ardis collected the kick off and out paced the Aztecs special teams unit to bring the Brewers back into the game at 15-6.

Kent's QB James Taylor then hit Ardis in stride to claim a fifty-nine yard TD strike to narrow the gap to 15 - 12 but the Bristol side soon struck back with Geoff Gill connecting with Adam Stenlake from sixty-five yards. The trusty boot of Nixon once again netting the extra two points to pass the lead to 23 - 12 as the first period came to a close. Defences stiffened somewhat in the second quarter but the Aztecs did find the end zone once more as Gill hooked up with Shotton-Gale from six yards out to extend the lead to 29 - 12.  The Brewers once more clawed their way back into the game in the third when Pat
Turner sped in from twenty-two yards out only for the score to be cancelled out by a massive Ed Collins seventy-yard dash to leave the final score at 34 - 18.
