6th August 2002 - GB Bulldogs 25-6 Southern Allstars

The Southern Allstars took on the GB Universities Bulldogs at Solihull's Norman Green stadium Sunday, and fell to a 25-6 defeat. The Bulldogs, preparing for their US tour in September, took the lead on the second play of the game as Sheffield Sabres QB Damian Marshall hit Oxford tight end John Barclay for a 60-yard touchdown. Oxford's Ollie North then picked off the Allstars QB Baynham, setting up a 14-yard touchdown reception by Cardiff University WR Thomas Longworth.

Southern, with guest players from Bristol, Southampton and South Wales, threatened with strong running by tailback Barry Martin, but a second interception by Ollie North for a 45 yard TD, converted by Staffordshire Stallions Adam O'Keefe made it 19-0 at half-time.

Southern opened the third quarter with a 50-yard Baynham hook-up to WR Leo Lyndsey who was tackled on the Bulldogs 1-yard line. From there, Baynham swung an inch perfect pass to Simon Cutts to break a shutout. The Bulldog's reply came quickly from the Staffordshire duo of Ben Shepherd and Paul Summers. Shepherd blocked a Southern punt, and Summers picked off the bouncing ball to run it home from the 45-yard line. From there Bulldogs were content to run down the clock.
