Riley, Ron – Year of induction: 2005
Years played: 1988-1990
Clubs: Northants Stormbringers (1988), Glasgow
Lions (1989), Leicester Panthers (1990)
Position: Linebacker
Riley
played for the Northants Storm in 1988 and Leicester Panthers in 1990, but it is
at the Storm where he performed exceptionally and is the main reason why he is
remembered as the greatest defensive import to have played in the UK. The middle
linebacker made 125 solo tackles that season (2nd in the league), as he
terrorized Budweiser League teams that season.

He
also played for the 1989 Midwest Football League side Racine Raiders that were
crowned World Champions under the banner of the MLFA. He returned to the UK in
1989 with the Glasgow Lions but was injured midseason, and moved on in 1990 to
the Leicester Panthers.

He
helped the Panthers to the quarter-finals of the NDMA league with 85 solo
tackles and a league high 7 interceptions (returning 1 for a TD). He currently
resides in Janesville, Wisconsin.
