Team notes: Date back to the very first gridiron season in 1984 and have always been regarded as an active, forward-thinking club. Developed a good stock of national talent at whatever level they played in. Moved from AFL to BAFL and on to the Budweiser Premier Division in 1987. Got their first taste of the playoffs in 1988 and then reached the CGL Crown Bowl in 1989 only to lose out in an offensive shoot-out 60-47 to Walsall. In 1991 signed one of Britains best talents LB Mark Beckwith, as the Warriors went with an AllBritish roster. In May 1991 owner Mick Billings announced the shock defection of their coach Jim Roberson to Brighton B-52s. Billings said, "We could not afford the money the B-52s offered". Mark Beckwith also quit the club shortly afterwards. Changed their name in May 1991 to Solent Warriors in attempt to revive the clubs fortunes. See Solent Warriors
