Team notes: Started slowly in BAFL Anglo Conference in 1986, and
made first playoffs two seasons later in Budweiser Division One. Got a 9-1 record in the
CGL in 1989, and then stormed through to win the Bowl with a 44-12 win over the Manchester
Heroes. Repeated their 9-1 record in 1990 as they made the BNGL National Division
playoffs. Team decimated by retirements at the end of 1990, which the defense having to be
completely rebuilt. Star QB Pablo Ortiz signed in 1991, but quit after the week 1 loss to
SMC Admirals. Ortiz said, "The Mustangs thought I had the ability to score 30 TDs a
game. I just can't do that, especially with no line." Merged with the London Barons
in 1992 to form the Kent Mustangs.
