Team notes: Competed ever since 1989 and
have been ever present. Were formed from the remnants of the Wigan
Wolverines, and were bolstered by the merger with the Lancashire
Chieftains in 1990. Competed in the BNGL during it's 6 year existence, and
thereafter have been in the BAFA/BSL. Have made the playoffs on 7 occasions, but have yet
to win a Bowl. Reached the BSL Division Two final in 1998. Promoted to
Division One in 2002, and finished that season with a 3-7-0 record. Solidified in 2003, and compiled a winning record in Division One with a
5-2-1 record. They were destroyed 50-8 by the Birmingham Bulls in the playoffs though.
Despite location in a new venue in 2004 (the Reebok Arena), the Wolverines pulled out of
the league mid-season.
