Team notes: The dominant college side of the 1980’s when they lost just two games between 1985 and 1989. Won titles in 1986, 1987, 1989 and shared the 1988 final with Cardiff Cobras after a 0-0 tie. Struggled since then to repeat past glories but made the playoffs again in 2001 after losing just two regular season games. Made playoffs again in 2002, after winning the Northern Conference Eastern Division. Made it to the semi-final after defeating Stirling. The The Sharks play the Whales in an annual Old Boys event each year in Hull. The event currently takes place on Superbowl weekend, with over 100 Sharks and Whales present at the event in 2003.

The Sharks were the founding members of BCAFL (started by Hull President Tom Bell) and are one of the oldest teams still currently playing (along with the Leicester Eagles and London Mets) since 1985. Their cheerleading squad, the Sharkettes, are one of the oldest known UK Cheerleading Squads, and regularly perform at the BCAFL College Bowl each year.
