Southampton Seahawks in action against the Greenwich Rams in 1986

1986 Budweiser League Channel Premier Division 4-5-1*
1985 AFL Capital Division 6-3-1*

Team Notes: Early predecessors to the Kent Rams. Previously known as the Greenwich Mariners, who merged with the Kent Mustangs at the end of 1984. In March 1985 a tie in with a local advertising agency who had the RAM initials led to the team renaming to the Greenwich Rams. The Rams joined the AFL (UK) and on March 1985 kicked off the 1st game against the Southampton Seahawks, running out 28 – 8 victors. Opening scores from the great backfield tandem of Tony Campbell and Terry Daniels set us on the road and the formation of the "Ninja D" under the leadership of a certain Simon Newnham.

In 1985 all home games were played at Sutcliffe Park and while much of the UK football press predicted the "new boys" to finish bottom of the Capital Division the team ran up a record of 7-4-1, including 2 very close defeats against the then mighty and unbeaten Ravens before losing out to Birmingham Bulls in the quarter finals. A season that saw Terry Daniels finish top in the league in yards rushing and Tony Campbell finish fourth. Simon Newnham finished as season defensive MVP.

Made playoffs in the AFL 1985 season and the inaugural Budweiser League in 1986. Had a close relationship with the NFL LA Rams.
