Team Notes: Early predeccessors to the Greenwich/Kent Rams. It all started in the summer of 1983, 3 people decided to throw a ball around in Greenwich park for fun but soon by word of mouth the number of "players" grew and what started out as throw about soon turned into organized coaching sessions. Led by the respected Tony MacKinnon, supported by Errol Sapakara and Ken Meyers it was soon evident that we had the makings of a team, and the idea of joining a league turned into a reality. After a year of drills and practice the Greenwich Bay Mariners were officially formed in Feb 1984. What followed was a year of scrimmages and more drills, but while most players wanted to get out an play a "real" game, coach MacKinnon kept our feet on the ground and refused the lets us go. In Nov 1984 the Kent Mustangs scrimmaged with the Mariners and following the session it was agreed that the squads would merge.
