Team Notes: Formed February 1986, kitted by October; nickname from local newspaper competition; sponsored by Marstons Brewery. Extremely successful for first 3 seasons reaching play-offs on each occassion (losing 1988 UKAFL Bowl 20-6 to Tamworth), but then winning only 3 games over their last 3 seasons in existence. Had the longest known losing run in Britball history - 36 games. After going 0- 5 in 1993, and going down to just 15 fit players they folded. "It was not a decision we enjoyed taking, but it was the only one open to us," said manager Steve Bland. "The players are adament this is not the end." Unfortunately it was, and the Beacons did not return in 1994.
