Team Notes: One of the best known teams after match with City College of San Francisco
attracted 13,000 fans in December 1985; first British team to play in the US. Formed
in 1984. Runners-up in the Budweiser League Premier Division in 1988. In 1992 signed a
number of big name players such as Fitzroy Miller (Crawley), Paul Evans, Clifton Reid,
Karl Goodwin, Ron Robinson and Sonnel Baptiste. Boosted by the signing of
Mark beckwith in 1993 and Dave Powell gave new coach Roberson plenty to smile about as the
B52s made the playoffs. Veteran boss Roberson quit at the end of the 1994
season after leading the B52s to the playoffs again to seek a job in the new World League
and concentrate on his coaching clinics. Offensive co-ordinator Jim Jasicki was announced
as the clubs new Head Coach. Roberson had joined in 1990 as Jim Bean's defensive
co-ordinator, and cecame head coach in 1991. He also coached their Youth Kitted side to a
divisional title in 1992. Lost imports Reid (to work in London) and Viera (moved
to Ipswich) in 1995 and went all-British.
Merged with Sussex Raiders (formerly Crawley Raiders) at the end of 1996 to form
the Sussex Thunder.
