Team notes: Written by Mark
Duddridge. "I joined sometime around 1986 and I think the team had been going a
couple of years already. We were, as far as I can remember, un-affiliated to BYAFA.
We played unkitted, full contact until 1987 after which we played unkitted flag
football. Our rival teams were the Cardiff Mariners and the Cardiff Celts, who we
played a few times each. I also remember a game at home against the Swansea Dragons,
which I believe was unkitted tackle, which we won.
In our last season or so, we had coaching from a Cardiff Tigers player and a couple of
Cardiff Mets players. A few of us went on to play for either the Tigers, Mets or,
later, the Tiger Bay Warriors, (now the South Wales Warriors). As far as I can
recall one or two ex-Cougars also played for other teams during the periods in between
there being Senior sides local to Cardiff."
