Honours were even as Norwich
Devils first game in BAFL 1 ended in an 18–18 tie with the
visiting Oxford Saints. Although neither team will be happy with a
draw, the Devils will probably be in better heart than the Saints.
West Coast Trojans came out of the blocks flying and handed the
visiting Surge, from Staffordshire a 64-4 drubbing. Stand out for the
Trojans was wide receiver David Pasnik who ran riot scoring 38 of the
home teams points, this fine performance earned him a BAFL Player of
the Week nomination.
New boys and League debutants Bedfordshire Blue Raiders failed to
trouble the scorers, their defense showed some good signs however, as
they fell to 14-0 defeat to the much more experienced Colchester
Gladiators’
On a pitch that was more reminiscent of the Somme, rather than a
football field the Leicester Falcons got their first taste of League
action and gave a good account of themselves. Leading at one point the
Falcons were eventually subdued
21-12 by the home side Shropshire Revolution.
The British American Football League announced that the first
Player of the Week for the 2008 season is wide receiver David Pasnik of
the West Coast Trojans. In the Trojans 64-6 demolition of the
Staffordshire Surge Pasnik weighed in with a massive 38 points. (9
receptions for 139 yards and 5 touchdowns).
