Lance Cone coached the Lions to their first win in their first ever international, in this friendly at Walton & Hersham. Cone ensured his full squad had a run out and Victor Ebubideke scored on a 6 yard TD to give the Lions the win in this historic match. Match report


 


165. Amsterdam Crusaders 2-0 Birmingham Bulls, 31st May 1992


 


In this hugely close Eurobowl knock out match, the Bulls had 5 players ruled ineligible prior to the game after a protest from the Crusaders including import QB Joe English. A fumbled snap, led to the Cru scoring a safety, and the Bulls couldn’t get anything going. Coach Moon quit straight after the game due to job commitments. Match report



166. Manchester Spartans 28-20 Glasgow Lions, 14th May 1989


 


Paul Bailey and Hazen Choates led the Spartans to a 21-0 lead against the Lions, but the team from Glasgow hit back with scores from Burns and McCluskey to close to 21-14. Bailey extended the Spartans lead to 2 TDs, but the Lions hit straight back through QB Trainor. Match report


 


167. London Olympians 45-30 London Blitz, 24th September 2006


 


The Olympians retained their crown in an offensive shootout against their London rivals. The Blitz, who had beaten took a 17-12 lead at the break, but on the back of Michael Sobanjo’s 278 yards the Olympians pulled clear to notch up another title win. Match report

In blistering conditions, the Aztecs held onto a thrilling 14-12 Div.2 semi-final victory over the upstart Cambridgeshire Cats. The Aztecs would go onto win the Div.2 crown this season. No match report


 


169. London Ravens 20-12 Streatham Olympians, 31st August 1986.


 


The Ravens won their second straight national title by jumping out to a 20-0 lead against their great London rivals. The Olympians made a game of it in the second half on the back of TDs from Anderson and Andy Smythe to pull the scores to within 8 points. On a last gasp drive, Steve Chesney failed to break the goal-line and the Ravens were champions again. Match report


 


170. Delonghi Knights 28-27 Hampshire Cavaliers, 14th July 1991


The Cavaliers tore into a 27-0, but an unbelievable comeback from the Knights saw them take the lead 28-27 with minutes remaining. No match report
